I've been MIA from blogging for a while but I think I finally figured why (more on that later). So now I am working on changing things around on here and making this into something I can actually keep up, not just post on every other month...or longer as of late. New name, new look, new ideas. I'm excited to, hopefully, make this into something worth reading and stick with it. More soon!

meeem's day
For my mom's present on mother's day I thought I'd get crafty instead of just buying her something. So after work last week I headed to the craft store to pick up the supplies to make some wall hangings for her sewing room which she frequents often (she's a costumer for my old ballet studio). I found some awesome scrapbook paper, cutouts and stickers were all sewing related! So after collecting some of those I made my way to the isle that held the canvases and that's when it happened...the canvas vs. toe incident.
Ok so really I'm a big baby, but it hurt! A three pack of canvas fell from the top shelf (above my head) directly onto my middle toe. I was convince it was broken for but I think it just bruised the bone. Here's a day later:
Suffering in the name of art is ok by me though..and in the end I ended up buying the very canvas that injured me haha. Here's the finished product!

happy mom :)
I made breakfast too, and it was delish! My favorite for sure. Stuffed french toast filled with a cream cheese, marmalade mixture and topped with marmalade. YUM. My dad thought I was a weirdo for taking pictures of it..but it was pretty :)
Hope you all had an excellent day with your mommies :D

welcome to the zoo. crazy squirrels not welcome.
my house is currently more of a zoo than a home.
we've got 2 dogs, 4 cats, 5 people and a two and half year old.

she's crazy..but pretty cute..so i think we'll keep her.
although it's slightly insane most of the time, it does provide for some amusement and great photo opportunities. can't complain about that!
i just got some film developed from this past week, and i took a lot of shots of our animals.
here's a few:

Fill-In-The-Blank-Friday
Sigh. I am currently way behind in my online class, so what do i do? Catch up? pfft no, distract myself with this of course! Why i ever thought taking an online class would be a good idea is beyond me. Procrastination, you win this time..
Fill in the blank friday, found over at the little things we do, is always fun to read because quite a few of the blogs i follow play along as well. I've only done one other, but this one is about music so i had to join in.
1. One song that always takes me back to my youth is "Lucky" by Britney Spears. haha ew. My best friend and I made a dance to it (along with every other song ever created) and it was on constant repeat for a few months i think. We were so dramatic and ridiculous when we sang along with it, and I have a feeling we'd still do the same if we heard it now.
2. My first concert ever was Delirious played at my church my freshman year, but the first concert in a venue i went to was Switchfoot my sophomore year. For how much i LOVE music i still can't believe i didn't go to a concert until high school.
3. If I could create my dream music festival I'd want these bands to be there: Oh geez..Passion Pit, Iron & Wine, Brand New, The Shins, Bon Iver, Underoath, She & Him, Chromeo, John Mayer, Ray LaMontagne, Lykke Li, Dave Matthews Band, Ben Folds, City and Colour, A Fine Frenzy, Noah and the Whale, Vampire Weekend, Thrice, One Republic. And at that point i would die of amazing music overload...and be completely ok with that.
4. The best make-out/"boot knocking" song ever is hmm..i do not know. i feel like iron & wine would be good make out music cause it's really good mellow background music..plus the lyrics are pretty sweet..but i suppose you wouldn't really be listening to the lyrics if you were making out with someone...i hope.
5. The best concert I've ever been to was I think John Mayer has definitely been the most impressive musician i've seen live..his guitar skills are pretty amazing. But Warped Tour 04 was really fun..Lots of bands, lots of sun, good friends. Aside from almost being crushed to death in the My Chemical Romance pit it was awesome..those chick fans are C-R-A-Z-Y.
6. A memorable musical moment for me was Dave Matthews at the Gorge last year. Holy amazing concert batman. I couldn't stand DMB for the longest time, but when they released GrooGrux King, I kinda started liking them so I agreed to go to the Gorge show and am now in love. Every musician in that band is so ridiculously talented it blew my mind. That actually might be up there for best concert i've been to.
7. The song on my iPod that's getting the most play these days is probably "Electric Twist" by A Fine Frenzy, "I'm Good, I'm Gone" by Lykke Li, and "Sleepyhead" by Passion Pit. Basically they all just make me want to have a dance party with Ellen :)
Current Song: Better by Regina Spektor
this video is so cute
current awesome photo: Unicorn Meat
ok normally I put photographs that are artistic and whatnot...but this just made me laugh.

FOOD. yum.
Lately I've been trying to cook a bit more. I'm still at home with the fam so cooking dinner isn't really an option unless I cook for everyone..and I don't trust my cooking skills enough to test things out on them. Instead I've been making tasty stuff for breakfast once I get home from my 1st class.
I've also been taking advantage of the pretty food and taking some food pictures. I am in love with this food site that has some of the best, most delicious looking photos I've ever seen.
Not too impressive, but yummy :) grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Holga 2.0
Greetings! It's been a while..i blame school. and possibly laziness, but blaming school is always better :) i'm in my last quarter though! and one of my classes I am LOVING. Art Appreciation, and my prof is an artist (mostly sculpture stuff) who i've taken a jewelry class from previously. I just really dig art, so I'm enjoying learning stuff I feel I should have known already.
One of the first studio assignments he handed out was to take an ordinary object and make it extraordinary. I thought about turning in the camera strap i felted but then i remembered my semi-broken Holga that I've been wanting to paint/decorate somehow.
(I don't actually know if it's broken because I have yet to find anywhere here in borings-ville that will develop 120 film..but there is a plastic piece inside that broke and is rattling around inside the camera. Which fits the craptasticness of the Holga really well, I kinda love it!)
Anyway, here's what standard Holgas look like:
and here's my finished Holga:
I love it! and i really hope it's not actually broken because now i want to use this one and not my other non-rattling one! I have to fix a few scratches on it (next to the holga label) because i may or may not have dropped it :/ heh heh i'm not clumsy, i swear.
I turned it in today, and the prof loved it..i even got extra credit! I'd like to think it was for overall rad-ness :)
